If you’ve never heard of Domestica, take a minute to read the Pinterest interview (or at least look at the great pics & click on the links!). Domestica focuses on handmade consignment pieces from crafters, artists, and artisans. There’s a massive range of super-cool product that’s exciting to sort through because the web design is also creative & cool.
Check it out! It’s become my new online obsession. You’ll see why.
Shop owner, music lover, poster collector, and 60s mod aficionado. Chrissy Jensen took some time out of a business holiday season at her shop Domestica to share how her business got started and what and why she pins.
I promised some weird stuff and I’m pleased to say that I have two items that are indeed unusual and quirky respectively.
First the unusual find:
It’s called Generator Rex & the Big Fat Sword (BFS). Maybe it’s just me (though I doubt it) but I find the placement of Rex’s BFS to be more than a little evocative. Do I think the toy manufacturer is intentionally sending a double entendre through product packaging/branding/marketing? Who can say for sure? This type of marketing works so well on kids because it’s evocative and because they don’t really understand the subtle nuances (or often even literal adult content references).
For the record, I bought the toy as a stocking stuffer for my sister who’s in her 30s. I think she’s going to love it, as I do.
Second, the quirky find:
These are super-duper cute erasers from a Chinese company, Sunde Stationary. I am in love with these characters/erasers and their background story. I’m paraphrasing the story but it goes a little something like this, “It’s difficult to be no longer loved. Men are sky in love…” I bought this eraser pack as a stocking stuffer but I really want to keep it.
I’ll give it up though, I know it’s going to an excellent home. A home where it will be sky in love. ;)
A few days ago I launched an Etsy Team called Social Media WordCraft. The idea for the team sprung from my interest in social media, Etsy and content marketing. There’s such a wealth of talent and creativity on Etsy. I’m excited about working with team members to build meaningful seller profiles that are in their best interests. Not to mention their readers!
The video below is the first installment of our weekly workshop videos. Enjoy!
